To calculate a word count of your document, follow the instructions below, for the particular file type that you wish to have translated.

Follow these instructions to obtain electronic word counts from the most common software programs.
Microsoft Word - FrameMaker - PageMaker - PowerPoint - QuarkXPress - PDF

Microsoft Word:

Open the document in Microsoft Word
Go to the TOOLS menu
Choose the "Word Count" function

FrameMaker:

Open the document in FrameMaker
Go to the FILE menu
Choose the "Utilities" function
Choose the "Document Reports" function
Choose "Word Count"
Choose the RUN button

PageMaker:

Open the document in PageMaker
Go to the UTILITIES menu
Choose the "Plug-ins" function
Choose the "Word Counter" function

PowerPoint:

Open the document in PowerPoint
Go to the FILE menu
Choose "Properties"
Click on the "Statistics" tab

QuarkXPress:

Open the document in QuarkXPress
Go to the UTILITIES menu
Choose "Check Spelling"
Choose "Document"
The word count will be given before spell checker begins.

PDF (Adobe Acrobat version 5.0):

Open the document in Adobe Acrobat (full version, not Acrobat Reader)
Go to the FILE menu
Choose "Save As"
In the drop-down menu called 'Save as type', choose "Rich Text Format (RTF)"
Click the "Save" button
Open up your new RTF in Microsoft Word and follow instructions above.
